Since 1897, Altgeld Hall has been a center of exploration and innovation for Illinois students. Originally the University Library, then the College of Law, Altgeld became home to the mathematics department in 1956. In spring 2023, we began the renovation of Altgeld Hall’s exterior and is currently in progress. Nick Roussey, Superintendent at Grunloh Construction, Inc., explains the renovation process with the hope that Altgeld will stand for another 200 years. With the renovation and modernization of Altgeld Hall, future generations of Illinois students, including liberal arts and sciences majors, can continue to delve into their curiosities.
